Documents lenders commonly request — and how to stay safe
By 8Q Solutions Team ·
Every lender has its own requirements, but most loan applications involve a few common types of information.
Common categories
- KYC: proof of identity and address, as specified by the lender.
- Income: salary slips or income-tax returns, depending on whether you are salaried or self-employed.
- Bank statements: for the period the lender requests.
- Business documents (for business loans): registrations, financial statements and GST returns where applicable.
- Property documents (for secured loans): title documents and approvals.
The exact list depends on the lender, the product and your profile. Our team will explain what is needed before you share anything.
Staying safe
- Never share OTPs, card PINs or banking passwords — no genuine lender or facilitator needs them.
- Share documents only through the channel you have been told to use.
- Be cautious of anyone promising guaranteed approval or asking for upfront payments to "release" a loan.
- Read the lender's key fact statement, sanction letter and agreement before signing.
